Collaborative chain stories

How voting works, contributing chapters, and revenue splits.

How chain stories work

A plot owner submits a story premise. For each chapter slot, multiple writers submit their version. The community votes on all submissions. The chapter with the most votes becomes official canon, and its author earns a royalty stake.

Contributing a chapter

Find a chain story accepting submissions and click "Write a chapter". You'll see the story so far, the world wiki, and any guidelines from the plot owner. Write your version and submit it before the deadline. Pro plan is required to submit chapters.

Voting

Anyone with a free account can vote. Read the competing chapters, then vote for the one you think best continues the story. Voting is anonymous and you earn XP and badges for participating. Each vote helps shape the story's direction.

Revenue and licensing

When a completed chain story is licensed through the marketplace, revenue is split: 30% to the plot owner, 40% split among contributing chapter winners, and 30% to the platform. Voters earn XP and badges but not revenue. Referrals earn 10% recurring commission from the platform share.
