Earning XP and badges
Level up through writing, voting, and completing challenges.
How XP works
You earn experience points (XP) by being active on the platform. Writing diary entries, winning chapter votes, voting on community contributions, and completing challenges all award XP. Your level is calculated from your total XP.
Levels
There are five level tiers: Newcomer (levels 1-4), Rising (5-9), Senior (10-24), Expert (25-49), and Master (50+). Your level appears on your profile and next to your name in community features.
Badges
Badges are awarded for specific achievements: writing streaks, completing your first story, reaching milestones, winning votes, and more. Earned badges appear on your profile page for others to see.
Streaks
Writing streaks track consecutive days of diary entries. The streak counter appears on your diary dashboard. Maintaining a streak earns bonus XP. If you miss a day, the streak resets - but there's no penalty beyond losing the streak count. Streaks are encouragement, not pressure.
